Reparations or nah?
A sometimes divisive, uncomfortable topic.
Why is the topic of Reparations so divisive in the United States? Is there an entire swath of the population who are slavery deniers? How does it hurt other Americans if the descendants of slavery are finally compensated for a debt owed? We live in a hyper-competitive society where ‘the people’ are often falsely pitted against one another in ways that causes a ‘crabs-in-a-barrel’ mentality.
Rather than viewing Reparations as some sort of ‘gift’ or free resources, let’s look at the topic through a slightly different lens.
