I’ve noticed over time that the questions and requirement asked of screenwriters by executives and reps has changed since the 90s and earlier. Although there are still far too few writing opportunities for minorities and women in Hollywood, there have been brief moments where the numbers did increase. But as soon as the opportunities increased, so did certain ‘unofficial’ job requirements that were not in play back when white males were virtually the only people getting jobs as screenwriters.
